WooCommerce speed checklist (afternoon pass)

A practical pass you can finish in one sitting before you install another plugin.

1. Measure first

Capture mobile LCP / INP / CLS on a product page and the cart.

Note TTFB separately from front-end weight.

2. Template budget

Give each template (home, catalog, product, cart, checkout) a short plugin budget.

Disable anything that does not earn its keep on that template.

3. Images and scripts

Serve WebP/AVIF where possible; lazy-load below the fold.

Defer non-critical JS; avoid duplicate analytics tags.

4. Caching layers

Page cache for anonymous traffic; object cache for repeated queries.

Purge carefully after catalog or theme changes.

5. Recheck

Re-run the same URLs after changes.

Keep a short changelog so regressions are easy to spot.
