Ava scrolled as she shifted herself across the bed barely waken up, Sam had tweeted something a few minutes ago, “Space later if you wanna join or not idk”. The white letters flashed across Ava’s screen. Before she could even like the tweet, she got a DM.

“Hi bedhead” Sam moaned out, her usual way.

“What do you want?” Ava groaned.

“Can you hangout later today im so boredd” Sam pleased.

“Aren’t you spacing later?”

“I dont care ill cancel it”

“Fine.” Ava groaned again, knowing that their hangouts make her feel a certain way.

“Yay okay what food place?”

“Olive garden?” Ava asked.

“Yeah, pick you up at 6:00 PM?” Sam asked joyfully.

“Sure.”

“Kay, cyaaa~” Sam dragged her words before ending the call.

| Call ended • 9:17 AM

Ava’s mind had been circling ever since a space 2 nights ago. Everyone was talking about them. About “Sava”. A joke ship made between their group and other listeners. But it didn’t seem like a joke much after yesterday. Some of their friends got genuinely annoyed, and turned it into a serious situation. It made both of them uncomfortable and nervous to talk.

She sat down for breakfast on the marble thin counter of her small apartment on floor 6. Usually, a simple glass of tea would sooth out anything stressing her out, but this time it clearly didn’t help. She scrolled on twitter, some random shit about Finn’s posts, colors, and whatever else people go on about. Her mind still spiraled over everything and most of all, Sam. She didn’t understand her own feelings, so being oblivious was the only option, not wanting to go overboard.

Ava tried anything to pass time. She cleaned the living room, did the dishes, and scrolled a bit more as the hours passed by.

4:22 PM

Ava figured she’d go out to buy drinks if Sam ended up coming over. Their favorite was usually red wine, but the only times they ever drank was at a party with friends or a pubic hangout. They’ve only hung out alone a few times, so the thought of it made her nervous.

She pulled out a white paper from her drawer and ripped it into a half sheet, grabbed a pencil and started to write.

If you care so much, confront her.

A note to herself to signify her confrontation about Sam’s overwhelming self. Ever since that space two nights ago, they haven’t brought it up. Like they were both avoiding it. On purpose.

5:14 PM

The numbers gleamed over the iphone screen. Ava stepped over the oak wood floors to go change and get ready. She put on this navy button up top, with low rise slightly baggy dark-wash jeans. She fixed her wavy-ish hair up into a bun, leaving loose strands out. She always did this light makeup look, thick mascara and a clear lipgloss. She put on these brownish boot heels on, and sprayed her vanilla bean perfume all over. By the time she was done with everything, it was 5:42 PM.

The black Honda Civic was waiting there in the dark with its warm ambient lights on.

Ava opened the door to the passengers seat and places down her purse.

“Hey,”

“Hi.”

It was awkward. The car was filled with rose scented perfume that Sam always put on. Sam was wearing her light warm brown hair in a straight half-up half-down, with the ends slightly waved. She had light mascara, blush and lipgloss on with a black graphic tee with a design of a martini on the front. On top, she wore a black leather jacket with a rusty gold zipper, and a dark denim skirt. She had jewelry on, and a red purse and belt. And to Ava, she looked, good.

The car ride was silent. Ava urged to say something, but she couldn’t bring herself to. Her gut hurt in a way. She knew it was wrong, but ignored it.

They got out the car and checked in normally. As they sat down on the brown leather booth seats across from each other, faint smell of salt and pasta filled the room.

“So uhm, did you end up doing a space?” Ava asked, looking at the menu, her eyes looking across pasta options.

“Yeah.” Sam responded, her menu on the beverage side.

“Well? What went on? What did i miss?”

“Um not much.” Sam mumbled, barely hearing any vowels.

“What?”

“No, nothing um. They just kept mentioning um, your name, I guess.”’

“Oh. Why do you guys keep talking about me?”

Ava knew she had to say it now. It was the only chance she had.

“I-its not me, they ask about it themselves.” She spoke hesitantly, avoiding eye contact with all her life.

“And you choose to answer?”

“I-“ Sam stuttered.

“I don’t know Sam, recently you’ve been obsessed with, well, me?”

The silence was loud. Its like the world stopped. The words hit Sam like millions of bullets.

“I-“

“Sam, just- just don’t even try to respond. I’m going to the bathroom to wash my hands.” Ava got up, letting go of her menu a little excessively aggressive as it slapped on the table.

Sam sighed, the only thing she could do in that moment, until a small ring sound came from Ava’s phone across the table. Then another, vibrating so slightly. Sam knew she shouldn’t pick it up, but curiosity got to her.

She picked up the phone with the black phone case, turning it around as four notifications lit up on the front screen. She slowly read them,

Lisa

“hey, where are you, up to call?”

5:18 PM

Lisa

“ava? I miss you.”

5:18 PM

Lisa

“cmon, we talked last night, and you left space for it, so you can leave now, can’t you?”

5:18 PM

Lisa

“please, babyy im bored”

5:19 PM

Sam felt something in her stomach. Something sick. Something that made her want to gag. Whatever it was, she felt sick. Before she could set the phone back down, a faint shadow rose upon the table.

“Sam?”

Her heart dropped.

“What are you doing with my phone?”

“I- Uh, it was ringing a lot, I tried to put it on silent.” Sam excused.

“Oh. Let me see”

Sam felt her surroundings getting warmer.

“Oh.” Ava spoke flatly.

“Sam, I- its not-“

“Its fine.”

“So you left last night to call, Lisa?”

“Sam- I- I can-“

“No. Its fine.” Sam spoke, looking down.

“Hi ladies, are you ready to order?” The waiter asked from the side of the table.

“Yeah.” Ava sighed, adjusting her self on the seat.

An hour passed by, of silence. pasta, alcohol, and just, silence.

They paid the check, and started grabbing their purses.

“Uhm, are you down to go to my house?” Ava suggested.

“Sure.”

Were the last words spoken. They both got in the car for another long, silent, boring, silent ride.

SAM:

7:02 PM, AVA’S APARTMENT.

The mahogany door rattled its doorknob as it shut closed behind the two.

The smell of vanilla and champagne bath & body works blown out candles from hours ago filled the air.

“You cleaned.” Sam spoke, placing her purse down on the side table.

“Yeah.”

“Do you want any wine?” Ava asked, looking through the fridge.

“Sure.”

The glass bottles clattered as flourishing red wine got poured into one then the other. Ava handed it to her and sat on the long side of the couch across from Sam.

“Sam I- about the texts.”

“Hm?”

“She was joking. She literally never talks like that, she’s just trying to convince me to call.”

“Mkayy.” Sam dragged, per usual.

“And plus. I left last night to get in bed, but she called and I just ended up joining.”

“Mk.”

“Sam-“

“I mean, why are you so into explaining? I never said I had anything wrong with it.” Sam giggled her usual ‘pissed off but trying to hide it’ passive aggressive way.

“What?”

“I mean your always clearly jealous of Lisa and others.. I just assumed-“

“Oh so now Im jealous? Your funny.” She laughed.

“Sam, thats not how I meant it. Your always so complicated and I never understand how your feeling.”

“Hm?”

“Like, your so confusing! You say the questions make you uncomfortable and then you don’t even bring up what happened. Like your purposefully ignoring it. And Jaz and the others are right. It seems like you like me and I don’t know what to say to that.” Ava finally let out.

“If you have anything to say just tell me. Im right here, no one else is around.” Ava blurted.

“What?” Sam almost choked on her wine.

“I-“

She was at a loss for words, Ava had just said the truth. There wasn’t anything else to excuse about.

Sam sighed, red. Almost like tears were forming.

“I don’t know myself, Ava.” She set down the wine on the glass coffee table.

“Sometimes your a bitch.” Sam admitted.

“How?”

“Your so dry and act like you dont care.”

“I do.”

“Then show it! I dont fucking understand you, Ava.”

Everything around the atmosphere started heating up. Sam could barely make words in her mind.

Tears started to swell up in Sam’s eyes.

“Can I have a moment.”

“Yeah, my room is unlocked. Go ahead.”

A few minutes passed, Sam just in Ava’s room crying. The silent area, the smell of vanilla and wine, the breeze from the opened windows. The whole situation was so aware.

7:21 PM.

Ava knocked on the door. “Sam?”

“Yeah.” Sam’s voice cracked.

“Can I come in?”

“Mk.”

The door clicked open and Sam was on the bed like she’s used to being their from old hangouts with their other friends.

“I- Im sorry.” Ava sighed.

“For?”

“Being so, confusing.”

“Me too.” Sam let go.

Ava sat down on the bed beside Sam on the leopard print blanket and black comforter.

They looked at each other as Sam’s watery eyes glimmered with her nose slightly red from when you sob.

The next second, Ava found herself leaning in.

Their lips collided. A small gasp escaped Sam, turning into a groan. Ava’s hands wandered all over down to Sam’s waist. At first, the kiss was soft, but barely a second later, it turned into a fight of hunger. Their tongues moved together, lips connected like magnets, moving crazily. Sam wrapped her arms around Ava’s neck and straddled her correctly without breaking the kiss. Finally, she let go just enough to look at her face.

“Oh my gosh.” Sam breathed heavily.

Ava flipped their positions and made Sam lie down on the bed.

(little warning for the smut part thx)

Ava couldn’t be patient anymore. She leaned in on top of Sam and kissed her again. Sam moaned into the kiss, vibrating their lips. Ava had heard these sounds before, on call, all the time, as a joke. But to know she was making them, turned her on.

Ava started moving her body against Sam. Lowering her kiss to Sam’s neck. She nibbled on the skin leaving red-ish purple marks.

She pulled Sam up just enough to take her shirt off, leaving just her black laced bra, then as she lied back down, she pulled off the dark denim skirt as the texture crippled down Sam’s legs. She wore a maroon colored lace underwear with a bow.

Seeing Sam like this did something to Ava. Bare, hot. Ava started stripping herself down. She left only her white bra and black lace underwear.

She kissed her way down Sam’s stomach as small groans escaped her throat. Then she made it to her lower belly. The faint smell of Sam’s rose perfume lingered in the air.

Slowly, the dark red undies slid off of her legs, leaving her naked. As Ava reached down, her curled brunette strands that were loose off the bun brushed against Sam’s inner thighs, signaling her nerves. Her tattoo from last year showed, “your lucky you made it this far.” Ava giggled.

Sam moaned as soon as she felt it.

A long and loud moan.

“Mmghmm, fuck!” Sam moaned again.

Ava kept going.

“Mmghm shittt.” Sam groaned again.

The only thing that mattered right now was the feeling she felt, as Ava’s tongue messily worked.

Then, she slid a finger in.

“Fuck!” Sam squeeled.

Ava got up and leaned over to kiss Sam again, switching their positions, as Sam fell on top of her. She slowly pulled off her black shorts, as her skin grew exposed.

Sam slowly started grinding herself on top of Ava, as they both breathed heavily.

“Mghmm”s and “Fuck”s came out of Sam’s mouth, as Ava just groaned lowly.

After a while, she fell to the side as they kissed again.

“Fuck. How are you so-“

Sam got cut off with another kiss.
