CHANGES FROM THE PREVIOUS HANDBOOK:
All infractions are now isolated to their relevant part of the server. As an example, we will not ban mute evaders, but rather mute all of their evaded accounts.
Added a distinct “level” system for easier communication. This varies slightly between the different books - e.g. chat and general moderation. However, some specific instances may have a separate progression.
Various reworks.
Added /reports documentation (S2+)
Added written case progression
Remember, not everything will fit cleanly in the boxes outlined in this handbook. Always refer to higher authority when needed.
CHAT PROTOCOLS:
As in the name, basically anything that happens in the in-game chat.
Level 1: Warning via /warn.
Level 2: 30m MUTE.
Level 3: 1 day MUTE.
Level 4: 7 day MUTE.
Level 5: Permanent MUTE.
Always include level in mute reason.
Slur usage:
Includes all slurs and abbreviations.
Standard progression.
Spamming (Human):
Human is defined as the account is operated by someone who is physically behind the screen pressing t and the up arrow to repeat messages very quickly.
Standard progression.
Spamming (Bot):
Bot is defined as the account is not being operated by a physical person and is simply relaying fixed messages on a fixed timescale.
Progress with a jump straight from 1 to 5. Allow 30-60 seconds after a warning to confirm that no human is operating.
Verbal threats:
Actual, legitimate, toxic physical threats towards another player, usually in a very heated argument.
Standard progression.
Doxxing:
Define doxxing as a player publicly leaking another player’s physical address, location, or full name. Must be specific, not vague.
Progress 1->3->5.
Sexual Content:
Actual, legitimate, weirdo type sexual stuff in chat, not just typical teenager dick jokes and sex humor.
Progress 2->3->5.
Mute Evasion:
The deliberate attempted squeezing around of a mute punishment by using an alternate account. Make sure that you have abundant evidence! Write a written case.
Enact level 5.
INGAME MODERATION PROTOCOLS:
Stuff in the actual game, not the chat. Limited to a 1 to 2 scale.
Level 1: 14d BAN.
Level 2: Permanent BAN.
Cheating/Hacking:
Define this as any kind of clientside unfair advantage for the player.
Standard progression.
X-Ray:
The usage of a module or resource pack to see through the ground, usually towards ores, chests, or bases. Requires a written case before punishment can be enacted.
Progress 1->2.
Lag Machine:
A contraption, usually a redstone or physics machine, used to deliberately lag out the server.
First, CONFIRM that the user’s contraption is actually lagging the server. Simply /kick them, leave the area, and wait 15 seconds. If the server does not recover, you have the wrong person, or the server is just overloaded. If the server does recover, immediately proceed to Level 3.
Illegal items:
Items that are not obtainable in vanilla Minecraft. Includes, but is not limited to:
Unachievable enchants (e.g. Sharpness 6)
Incompatible enchants (e.g. Protection and Fire Protection on the same chestplate)
Unachievable items such as bedrock or end portal frames
Obviously copy-pasted shulkers with illegals in them.
If found, report directly to Bedrock with as much context and information as you can possibly provide. Do not take action unless items are being actively distributed. In the case of distribution, immediately IP ban, and if you are a moderator or above, close the gamemode with /maintenance on <gamemode>.
Duped items:
Insane amounts of OP items that are not achievable in vanilla Minecraft without an absurd amount of time, in the matter of years. Examples:
Double chests filled with shulkers that are filled with stacks of enchanted golden apples
Same of the above but with obsidian, end crystals, totems, god sets, or other hard to achieve items.
If found, report directly to Bedrock with as much context and information as you can possibly provide. Do not take action unless items are being actively distributed. In the case of distribution, immediately IP ban, and if you are a moderator or above, close the gamemode with /maintenance on <gamemode>.
Ban Evasion:
The deliberate evasion of a ban by using an alternate account.
Once you have discovered abundant evidence, jump straight to level 3. Make sure to include the original user’s name in the ban reason. Create a written case.
IP BAN/IP MUTE PROTOCOL:
IP Bans are generally to be seldom used. They should only be used if:
The server is under attack and IP bans can effectively clear out attackers or bots
A “Level 3” is needed for the Ingame Moderation Protocols section (special cases)
Bedrock has told you to use one
Hopefully, 99.9% of your uses of IP bans should be under #2. Before you do this, though, in chronological order:
/alts the player you want to IP ban. If there are more than 2 pages of unbanned other players, forget it. If it is over 1 page, but not at 2, talk to Bedrock or admins.
See if the IP address is a VPN IP. This may be relevant later. Use https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookup.
If there are less than 1 page of other players, or is a VPN ip, you have found a prime target for an IP ban. Remember, however, they are only to be used at a level above everything else when the situation truly warrants one.
The reason behind all of this checking is so that you don’t inadvertently end up banning an entire school with 25 pages of alts.
This has happened before in the past, and has caused quite the scene and pain for us staff down the road.
Make sure to create a written case if #2 is what warranted the IP ban/IP mute.
SAFEGUARDING YOUR ACCOUNT:
Whether you like it or not, you, as staff, are one of the primary attack vectors for anyone with malicious intent. However, keeping your account safe is actually quite simple:
Don’t use a simple password
Don’t show your password in public. Always login when there are no eyes on you, or move the chat box off of your screen.
DO NOT USE ANY KIND OF THIRD PARTY EAGLERCRAFT CLIENT SUCH AS TUFF, MODERN, OR PIXEL ON YOUR STAFF ACCOUNT. While these clients are likely currently safe, clients that are owned by server owners like this are notorious for having password stealers put into them at some random point after they have a good following in order to take down other servers. Always use the official, real EaglercraftX builds on your staff accounts. Preferably, use https://web.carrot-craft.org so I know that you’re not on a build with a stealer.
Do not use sketchy cracked Java launchers such as TLauncher. Yeah, TLauncher is Russian spyware, don’t use it… Crazy, right?
HANDLING INGAME REPORTS VIA /REPORTS:
It should be standard protocol to check /reports every time you login to check for new reports.
To read a report, simply click on it. You should see the current status of the report, the reporter, the player who was reported, the reason, and context provided by the reporter. You can also fetch the anticheat logs and chat logs from the time that the report was submitted by pressing the appropriate buttons.
Once you have gathered relevant information, and if you have concluded that the report is legitimate, proceed as you would otherwise using the standard protocols above.
When finished, mark the report as Accepted/Rejected/BS based on your conclusion.
COMMAND DOCUMENTATION:
/ban <player> <duration> <reason> - Ban a player
/mute <player> <duration> <reason> - Mute a player
/kick <player> <reason> - Kick a player
/ipban <player/ip> <duration> <reason> - IP Ban a player. Read IP BAN protocol.

/socialspy - Show all private messages being shown. Can be very funny occasionally.
WRITTEN CASES:
Used to provide reasoning that the rest of the staff team can reference when dealing with complicated cases (e.g. proving xray, proving that a player is a high priority banned user.).
In short, just dump your full reasoning in the written cases thread. Make sure the title of your thread is the name of the user(s) in question. You may inquire another staff member about their written case within their respective thread.
