Imagine that you were a "couch potato" in 2005. The situation was dire if your family or friend didn't tape your favourite television show for you. You can become a listener the same day or wait until the summer months to watch it on TV, or you could explain it in the classroom / over the phone the following day as a student. Eating the popcorn while listening to music was accompanied by a large binder of plastic CD, a portable skipping player or an early MP3 player with a few dozen songs. It was impossible to ignore the need to plan and cover entertainment the rest of the time as well. What a long way we've come. Now, since the era of On-demand media has come, Netflix and Disney+ are one of the buttons, Spotify and YouTube are one, the cosmos of humanity's creativity was at our fingertips. No need to go out and brave the snow or travel to the shop for entertainment, it's always there with you. It's a luxury in our morning when stuck on the road or waiting in the supermarket checkout que and in the middle of the night waiting for the night to end. Although streaming revolutionized the way people enjoy culture, it has also affected the minds, both positively and negatively.1. The most surprising result of the streaming frenzy was the breaking of the barriers. Until quite a long time ago, culture was confined by the regional television stations, radio tower or, even as late as near one hundred years ago, movie theaters. Most people watched whatever the media that these owners decided to broadcast. It was difficult to locate foreign movies or shows not being broadcast on local TV. You had to go to different places to find independent video stores, and then hours poring over titles. Artists not in English required either foreign language skills or an internet connection where pirated content could be found. That is NOT how it works today. It is also accessible all over the world and with quality dubbing and subtitling issues relating to language are a thing of the past. Raters/buyers choose which movies and/or shows they want to watch and consider not what movies are being shown at a local movie house. It was the same with music and throughout one day they would discover local and international artists then either stumble on the hit song of the moment or come up with the music that would fill their hearts with delight. A random teenager in Mumbai can listen to his or her favourite South Korean pop band, switch to an Indian film music and then browse on American-style R&B singer or a Latin rapper who is using tarrap (a traditional musical instrument in South Korea) in the same afternoon. Popular for absolute sovereignty is the content available on Demand and Absolute SovereigntyStreaming services. When people used to have to tune their sets to a TV schedule. When people had to tune in to a TV schedule. The streaming revolution brought the ability to access content on demand, at anytime and on any device. There simply aren't many ways to block a man whose need to see a two-hour-long film at 1 AM on a Tuesday. A streaming service will provide you with a third of an episode to use during a 15 minute commute, and then access it later when you have time enough to use of your cell phone. You don't need to be at home to watch a show as the device you are viewing is completely mobile. The same device can also be flexible enough to be used on a living room TV, a laptop at the dining table and a phone on the bus. The physical media collapses – its use is redundant: People don't need to purchase physical music, physical movies, etc.; there is a vast library of digital music and movies available to all 24/7. The attention economy rules the behavior of much of modern technology companies. So what they want to purchase with their money is your user time, and businesses want to steal your attention -- they are selling a product: your attention. There you are, and you're following the economy of attention. As a tech firm, you want to capture your interest and maintain that interest for as long as you can. They spend millions of dollars on research and development for understanding how to get you to stay inside of their app or website. What you like and what you don't like gets noticed by companies, and you learn the content that you're studying. They watch for the genre that interests you, the shows or movies you watch, and the amount of time you spend watching certain thumbnails, what you don't view also. This data is employed to advise comparable articles that will maintain you engaged and watching. The point here is that diversity will be lost but the scheme is viable. "Always a familiar, comforting suggestion so is the algorithm, sure you'll love! This makes it extremely difficult to come across something new and unexpected. Content is curated for you in real-time, based on the time of day, your mood at the moment and the overall mood of your physical surroundings. It's like the algorithm is your filter which you see the rest of the world with. It is also the conundrum of choice in the other part concerning recommendation algorithms which is the case when it is so challenging to choose what to do next. You can use an hour in an app without having seen a video or show. That's because the algorithm keeps recommending new material and it may become repetitive to scrol down endlessly.4. Like an endless stream of hot air, the constant focus of people's attention is an intriguing reflection on the existential paradox facing this age of the internet: 'What is freedom?' What about otherwise? From a first sight, everything looks freer now than ever before. No longer need to be confined to the programs local programmers are offering us. But giving algorithms a role in things we do loads of every day makes our selection a tiny bit restricted for ease of use. We're searching for something new, really, but which we're being driven down a path paved for us by engagement engineers. The next step in achieving this is to make a conscious effort and undertake discipline to pay attention to getting away from the screen.
