Academic activities at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), are expected to be disrupted following the decision of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), AAUA chapter, to commence a total and indefinite withdrawal of services over the non-payment of lecturers’ salaries for May and June 2026.
The decision was reaffirmed at the union’s congress held on Friday, July 10, 2026, after reviewing earlier resolutions reached on April 28 and June 18, 2026. According to the union, the industrial action will take effect from 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 10, and will continue until all outstanding salaries are paid.
In a notice issued to members, the union stated that the withdrawal of services would be total, comprehensive, and indefinite, stressing that the action became necessary due to the continued delay in the payment of the affected salaries.
The union further disclosed that the National Visitation Team of ASUU is expected to visit the AAUA chapter on Monday, July 13, 2026, to address members’ concerns regarding the 2025 agreement signed between ASUU and the Federal Government.
The notice was signed by the Chairperson of ASUU-AAUA, Comrade Bolu Oshodi.
The industrial action is expected to affect lectures, academic engagements, and other university activities until the salary dispute is resolved.
