moonbli :P
Never in my 27 years of being alive did I think I’d ever get married.
Never in those same 27 years did I think I was even capable of feeling love.
But…
As I walked up to the altar and waited for Moon to walk down that aisle, all I could think of was how long I’d waited for this day. The day we’d share vows, the day we’d officially be bound to each other, the day when I become hers and she comes mine.
People stared as I walked by, giving me thumbs ups and encouraging pats on the back as I moved between chairs and people. Winter and Turtle were talking near the altar, talking casually with Clay, when Turtle looked up and waved. I smiled awkwardly and walked over, bumping into Glory on her way to the bathroom with Peril.
God, they’re practically attached at the hip.
I rolled my eyes at Deathbringer’s flirty grin as I walked past, before walking to Winter. His eyes lit up and his arms went to wrap tightly around me. Turtle shoved his way into the hug, fist colliding with Winter’s chest as his body lurched backwards.
“You little-” Winter laughed, glaring at Turtle’s smug grin, before shoving him to Kinkajou, who squeaked louder than expected.
Turtle flinched and quickly caught himself, holding onto Kinkajou’s arms. “Winter! Don’t do that to Kin-”
“Why?” Winter and I asked in unison.
“Because she’s-”
“Sick!” Kinkajou blurted quickly, giving Turtle a pointed glance. “I’ve… uh… been tired and stuff.”
Winter raised a skeptical eyebrow but shrugged. “Sorry, sorry…” Winter turned to me, blue eyes flitting across my frame. “Man, I’m jealous of Moon…”
“Winter!” I groaned.
“What? You look pretty good…” Winter grinned, crossing his arms and letting his eyes wander.
I knew he was joking, but times like these, I would question how desperate he truly was…
I rolled my eyes, and Turtle shoved me to the altar.
“Cmon, lover boy, it’s your turn.” Turtle grinned, holding onto Kinkajou, hand resting on her hip, gently rubbing with his thumb.
She looked more tired than usual, but she was still shining bright like the girl we knew and loved. She was the maid of honour, the soft yellow dress looking absolutely adorable on her frame.
I stumbled to the altar and stood there, as the priest gave me a warm, comforting smile. I looked around warily as everyone took their seats. Friends and colleagues filled the small church. Moon and I never really wanted a big wedding.
Hell, we didn’t even have enough people to invite to a big wedding.
In the front row, we had the people from our high school friend group and our seniors. Moon’s mum was also in the front row on the other side of the aisle, Thorn on her side with Stonemover.
We… didn’t have many relatives who could come to the wedding. They either didn’t exist, had lost contact with us, or…
My shoulders sank ever so slightly with that thought.
But it’s fine.
My family is right here, in the front row, giving me thumbs ups and waving with happy smiles. Winter was shyly talking to one of my coworkers sitting behind him, Turtle was holding Kinkajou close, hand on her belly, and Moon…
They’re all I need.

Chatter died down in the church, people starting to quieten. Auklet was waiting at the end of the aisle, holding her little basket of flowers with an adorable smile. Everyone kept turning their heads to the door, waiting for the moment Moon would walk in. Some excited, some curious…
But me?
Absolutely fucking terrified.
I kept running my hands through my hair, checking the time, looking at the door… waiting for her to come out.
After what felt like a whole lifetime, soft music started playing, and my breath caught in my throat.
It’s time.
Winter hovered to the side, waiting to bear the rings that were hidden in his pocket. Turtle gave me an encouraging thumbs up, and Kinkajou grinned, suppressing a squeal.
The church doors opened, and Moon…
Ohh fuck-
She stood there, holding a bouquet of flowers, absolutely glowing. Her cheeks were warm, rosy, eyes sparkling with an emotion I entirely reciprocated, but neither of us could put it into words. If I did, Winter wouldn’t ever let me hear the end of it.
Everything was quieter now. The chatter, the music, Winter’s teasing…
She walked over, slow, steady, her dress bouncing over her legs with every step she took. I forgot how to breathe. Getting married? Never saw it coming, but here she was, walking with a smile as if she always knew I’d be the one to slide that ring onto her finger. Auklet skipped in front of her, throwing flowers around with a happy little smile. Moon smiled down at Auklet, dimples peeking through her soft skin.
Man, she looks-
“Hey, handsome.” She whispered with a smile as she stood at the altar, her voice laced with a teasing tone.
My cheeks burned. “Hey, gorgeous…” I muttered back with a small grin.
Moon’s hand gently came to cup my face, thumb brushing away tears that I didn’t even know were there. My hand gently came up to cover her hand, feeling how soft and warm they were under mine.
“Welcome and good morning, everyone. Today we gather here to witness the binding of two souls, Moon Watcher Tsuki and Q...” The priest smiled.
The priest’s voice slowly faded out as I looked at her. Her soft skin, her glowing eyes, the little blush on her cheeks, the little smile that graced her lips… damnit, those dimples. Her hair bounced around her face, my hand gently coming up to brush it out of her eyes.
I just… looked at her. Looked at her with the same emotion she had in her own emerald eyes, something loving, adoring… something that I could barely describe.
Her lips moved without a sound, reciting her vows. I barely heard them, too fixated on the way hers lips m-
I felt a little tap on my shoulder, and I snapped out of it. The priest looked at me expectantly, and I blinked in confusion.
“Your vows?” The priest murmured.
“O-Oh, right…” I stammered, clearing my throat nervously.
“Moon…” My mouth went dry as I looked at her. “I… never thought I’d get married. I never thought I’d actually fall in love, but… you’re here. You always were. You were here through it all, for so, so many years. You saw me, the real me, the part of me everyone was blind to, and I see you. I see you for who you are, and you see me, the real me. I’m so, so lucky to be yours, and so…”
I took a deep breath.
“And so… I promise to always be there. I promise to be the first person you turn to. I promise that I’ll be everything you need, everything you want, and more. I vow to be yours forever, until death do us part.”
Haha. Voice crack. Fuck me.
Moon laughed quietly and wiped a stray tear that slipped out, and I smiled.
The priest looked close to tears himself. “Rings?”
Winter stepped forward with a grin that stretched ear to ear, handing the priest the boxes tucked into his pocket.
She slid the ring onto my finger, a steel band with our initials engraved into it, and I slid her ring on too, a glinting emerald ring with a silver band. Moon gasped in quiet awe, admiring the ring in the light. I smiled.
“You may kiss the bride.”
My arms wrapped tightly around her waist, her arms coming up to cup my face as our lips met. It wasn’t the first kiss, hopefully not the last, but it felt different.
Softer, more loving… our first kiss as a married couple.
The crowd erupted in cheers for a happy few seconds before it went quiet. The world stilled, Moon’s head tilting to the side. My heart pounded quicker than it usually did, my hands shakier than usual, unsure of where to be, where to wander…
But did I care?
Absolutely not.
All that matters is that she’s in my arms, finally mine.
Just like how I’m finally hers.
Never in my 27 years of life did I ever think this would happen, but honestly?
I’m so glad it did.
